Charles W. Smith, or “Chuck” as he is known to his friends and clients, founded the firm of C.W. Smith Law, P.A. in July of 2014 but he has been practicing law and trying cases in the State of Florida since being admitted to the Florida Bar in 1996. He is originally from West Des Moines, Iowa and received his undergraduate degrees from the University of Iowa in 1993 before graduating from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1996. He has tried personal injury cases to verdict in Brevard County and Orange County, Florida, and has tried over 60 workers’ compensation final hearings throughout Central Florida over the past 20 years. He has also handled appeals before Florida’s First and Fifth District Courts of Appeal and before the Workers’ Compensation Commissioner in Iowa. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Florida, the District of Columbia and in the State of Iowa, is a member of the Florida Justice Association (FJA), Central Florida Trial Lawyers Association (CFTLA), Florida Workers’ Advocates (FWA) and is also a member of the Orange County Bar Association.
Mr. Smith has successfully represented thousands of clients in his career and primarily handles first party insurance/ property damage claims, insurance coverage disputes, personal injury suits including work related accidents, motor vehicle accidents, dog bite cases, workers’ compensation claims, premises liability cases, civil rights cases including school negligent supervision cases, complex litigation, and appeals. He also handles Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act and Defense Base Act claims, Unemployment Compensation appeals and State of Florida disability claims. He has tried multiple personal injury cases to verdict in state and federal courts, has tried over sixty workers’ compensation final hearings/ trials, and has handled fifteen appeals. In 2009, Mr. Smith was able to obtain a Brevard County jury verdict for an injured client of his of $76.6 million and he invites you to view his trial and settlement results.
Mr. Smith is married, with two boys and a little girl and enjoys spending his free time with his family and coaching little league. He is proud to call Central Florida his home.
